Footwork
A player may received the ball with one foot grounded, or jump to catch and land on one foot (grounded foot), and then may step with the other foot in any direction. Grounded foot cannot be lifted off the ground and regrounded before the ball leaves the player's hands.
Obstruction
An attempt to intercept or defent the ball may be made by a defending player if the distance on the ground is not less than 3 feet from a player in possession of the ball.
Contact
No player may contact an opponent, either accidentally or deliberately, in such a way that interferes with the play of that opponent.
Free Pass
A free pass is awarded to a team for all minor infringements, eg stepping, offside, over a third
Penalty Pass
A Penalty Pass or Shot is awarded to a team for all major infringements eg. obstruction, contact
Throw In
The player throwing the ball in shall ensure that all other players are on the court and shall stand outside the court and place one or both feet behind the line, at the point where the ball crossed the line.
When to Stand Out of Play
A player must stand out of play when they have made a major infringement such as obstruction and contact. For minor infringements, such as stepping and offside, a player does not have to stand out of play. |
